About Your Hosts • The Amandas

Amanda Meeks (@amanda_wanders) works remotely full time in IT consulting and is also a travel blogger, group trip host, and avid fantasy reader as well. She’s been to all 7 continents, around 30 countries, most of the states in the USA, and her favorite types of trips feature amazing scenery and wildlife in their natural habitat. Her lifelong bucket list had trips like Antarctica, an African safari, and the Galápagos Islands on it, so it’s no surprise she started hosting group trips to those places so others can fall in love like she did. She aims to make bucket list travel destinations more accessible for the everyday travel, and help eliminate the stress out of travel planning.

Amanda Brown (@amandamoniquebrown) worked as a pension actuary for 9 years, during which she took a 1 year break to travel the world. Sharing everything she learned during that year she developed a deep love of travel content and sharing how to do the things she did online. She ultimately left her job again to pursue content creation full time in 2023. Since her first international trip in 2015, she’s visited 6 continents (just Australia left!) and 40+ countries. She has a strong passion for hosting group trips to places people may feel intimidated to plan and/or book themselves, which is why her group trips so far have been to Antarctica, Zimbabwe, Amazon Rainforest, Galapagos Islands, and Egypt!
Why go with us?
Planning the Galápagos isn’t simple. The archipelago is a massive National Park with rigid restrictions to protect the habitat. Between choosing which islands, boats, timing, flights, park logistics, and knowing what’s actually worth it, it can get overwhelming quickly.
That’s exactly why we host this as a fully supported group trip.
When you travel with us, you’re not just booking a trip; you’re joining a carefully curated experience where everything is thoughtfully planned and handled for you.
What traveling with us means:
- A proven itinerary based on previous Galápagos experiences
- The best of both worlds — land exploration + expedition yacht
- Support before you go (packing, flights, expectations, etc.)
- A group of travelers who genuinely want to be there
- Hosts who are experienced in running trips in remote destinations
- Less stress, fewer decisions, and more time to enjoy the experience
Many of our past travelers say the group aspect is what made the trip feel easier, more fun, and way more meaningful.

FAQs
What types of animals can I expect to see?
Ohhhh idk like all of them! But for real, the wildlife is the best part! The Galápagos Islands are basically a water safari. While we cannot guarantee any specific animal sightings since nature is the one in control, we can expect to see LOTS of animals. Typically seals, various sea birds, sea turtles, Galápagos penguins, giant land tortoises, tropical fish, marine iguanas, rays, and if were lucky there’s also a chance in July to see a few species of dolphins, whale sharks, and whales!
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, trip insurance is mandatory. If you have any questions, reach out and we will be happy to help you. Amanda Meeks uses this company to compare rates and decide what works cost and coverage-wise. Amanda Brown used this company before, and also uses Safety Wing.
What food and drink is included?
Included is 10 Breakfasts, 8 lunches, and 6 dinners, which includes all meals during Galápagos yacht portion including water, coffee, and tea.
There are 4 dinners and 1 lunch not included.
What's the weather like?
Highs in July are in the upper 70s °F, with lows in the mid 60s °F. Water isn’t cold but isn’t warm (wetsuits will be provided), at around 72°F. Evenings on the water can be chilly but a light jacket typically is enough.
What is a panga/zodiac boat?
It is a small inflatable boat that fits around 10 people. We use panga (zodiac) boats to get from the ship to land, as well as cruisings.
How much gear do I need to buy before the trip?
Probably not much if anything! The weather is warm, and our activities provide wet suits, snorkel gear etc. You’ll want a few swim suits, light layers, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, etc. We will provide an in-depth packing list ahead of time to help you pack efficiently!
What if I get motion sickness?
It’s not as bad as you might think! In some areas, the water is virtually flat. When we’re out in open water there can be so movement. Regardless, even if you aren’t prone to motion sickness I’d recommend taking some motion sickness medications
Is there wifi onboard?
Yes, there is free WiFi via Starlink, but please keep in mind we will be in remote areas and access to WiFi can be unreliable. While we did have some trip attendees working remotely onboard in 2025, it’s best to plan to be okay being completely disconnected from WiFi. In 2025 WiFi was strong enough most of the time for even the social media apps to load quickly.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
Vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, gluten free can all be accommodated. Most other dietary restrictions can be accommodated, but if you have any specific concerns just let us know and we can connect to confirm we can meet those need.
Where do I fly in and out of?
You will generally fly in and out of Quito, Ecuador (UIO). The trip starts at the airport in Quito, where we will spend the night at a nearby hotel before flying together to the Galápagos Islands the next day.
Are there any mobility restrictions?
To be able to get in the panga boats for landing activities you’d need to be able to get yourself in/out of a bathtub with minimal assistance. At times on the island walks, the terrain can be rocky and uneven, but is generally low incline if any. We recommend shoes with good grip and ankle support.
Are there any age restrictions?
There is no maximum age limit. The minimum age for our groups is 16. Anyone below age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
When is the final payment due?
Final Payment is due 90 days trip to the trip, April 18, 2027.
Are there payment plans available?
Yes! You can pay a monthly payment from the time you book up until the total payment is due April 18, 2027.
What is the cancellation policy?
The deposit to reserve your spot is non-refundable (25% of the trip cost). Any additional payments beyond the deposit are fully refundable until April 18, 2027. The full balance is due 90 days prior to the trip (April 18, 2027). After April 18, 2027, all payments are non-refundable.
Are there any size restrictions?
No, all sizes can be accommodated.
